BOOKS: NEWTON

Helmut Newton is by far my favorite photographer and when I saw a copy of his autobiography on my local second-hand book store I had to have it! His journey is a fascinating tale of growing up in wealthy Jewish family to his escape from a Nazi Germany to his beginnings as a photographer. The book is written in Newton's style full of charm as well as kink. A must for any photographer aficionado.

BOOKS: EROTICA

Dita admitted to not reading the saucy trilogy “because it seems a little too ‘Erotic-light’” for her.
Naming classic erotica writers such as Henry Miller, George Bataille and Anais Nin as some of her favorite writers, she then added: “Dip into the real erotica and you’ll find that things were a lot racier.” I agree! Story of an Eye still one of my favorites and anything from the Marquis de Sade is always a classic.

BOOKS: DISPLAY

Love this! There's a dead space on our living room that we want to use. The story is in our living room there's a door that connects to our bedroom but we block that entry so we can have more space in our bedroom. Is not visible in our bedroom cause we add a floor to sealing curtain imitation a long headboard but from the living room is more than obvious that is a closed entryway. So after much debating and styling ideas a display book shelve is the more logic solution. We have a ton of coffee table books that we would to be at reach for  us as well as for our family and friends. So this solution looks like a more sensible one...also this and this shelves would be perfect for the door frame.

Still one of my favorites! I bought this book in the late 90's and cherish it as my own personal bible during my High School years. After all this years I still have the book and wish that Paper Magazine would do an updated version of it.We need more artists, drag queens and icons.

BOOKS: DAPHNE GUINNESS

Daphne Guinness, book

Daphne Guinness, one of today’s most original fashion icons, is the subject of the upcoming exhibition Daphne Guinness at The Museum at FIT. Opening on September 16, 2011 and on view through January 7, 2012, the exhibition will feature approximately 100 garments and accessories from Guinness’s personal collection, plus films, videos, and images, of and by her.
Daphne Guinness will be co-curated by Daphne Guinness and Valerie Steele, director and chief curator. of The Museum at FIT, with the assistance of Fred Dennis, senior curator of Costume.  The exhibition’s design, by Ken Nintzel, will be inspired by Guinness’s New York apartment.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a book, also titled Daphne Guinness, written by Valerie Steele and Daphne Guinness, and published by Yale University Press. All royalties from sales of the book will benefit the Fashion Institute of Technology.

Eccentric Glamour by Simon Doonan is one of my go to guides in beauty and individuality. Its outrageous, hilarious and informative. I specially adore the eccentric glamour questionnaire feauturing some of my favorite ladies such as Dita Von Teese, Tilda Swinton, Isabel Toledo  and others. Here is an intro...
