DECOR: RESTORE

Hello there! Its been a while but like everyone I been busy catching up on life and several projects. Lately I been in nesting mode and I just want to stay indoors and converting our renters house into a home. From decorating, cleaning and restoring slowly but surely its coming along.

One of the projects that I been working on is restoring the original beauty on the brass hardware from our doors. I don't understand why somebody decided to put layers and layers of paint into brass. After much research this little post made a huge difference and its easy too! Just boil, clean and your done.

DECOR: FERN PLAQUE

It's been a while since I did a post and this theme has been on my mind for a couple of months. I just adore the way the stag horn fern plaque looks. It's just such a refreshing take of having beautiful plants in your home, specially for small places like mine. We try so hard not to have any hard shape furniture with low legs and we love dessert plants and ferns. I think the mounted fern is going to be a great addition to our home.

DECOR: PING PONG

If the hubby would get his way he would have a ping pong table instead of a dinning table but I can blame him. He grew up with a dad in a professional ping pong team playing for Mexico and I know that games, sports and competition are in his blood.  I been trying to figure out were can we put a small/medium size table with style in our house and to be honest is kinda complicated because we live in a 1920's one bedroom small cottage. I thought about this possibility too! Still LOVE Jonathan Adler's table and accessories.

DECOR: TRANSFORMATION

A couple of years ago my mom gave me this chair. It's a perfectly good chair and comfortable but beige and gold are not really my color schemes. After trying to sell it on yard sale without success and sadly stored in the garage I noticed the chair again. It could me an amazing chair for my much needed bedroom makeover. Here are some tips & tricks: This tutorial makes a huge difference to have a high end paint job & also if you don't want to upholstered the chair instead of going with an Interior Designer go to your local restoration car shop they will do it in a lower cost (just bring the fabric & trim). My basics:

Being a native from Tijuana and living in San Diego nearly ten years I never been to Old Town. I just think is a typical tourist attraction full of Latin Americas kitsch and no real culture of essence of my country. While visiting a friend in one of the restaurants we decided to check out some of the shops and as  I suspected they wore full of kitschy/touristy tchotchkes but somewhere in there we found a gem (literally), Miner's Gems & Minerals. A wonderful store full of antiques, insect taxidermy and their specialty gems and minerals. There you can also find a lovely selection of petrified wood, mortars and pestle, and books. They gentlemen who runs the store is full of knowledge!! So if you want the Kelly Wearstler look without spending the designer prices check this little gem out.

Lately I been giving out poor cottage a little TLC. I have been working on some home projects to revamp our rented house and given them a little more grown-up take specially the bedroom. For the first time I want an adult bedroom full of lush, luxe, textures and sensuality alá Sting. I been highly inspired by this recent post as well as my pinterest  interiors board but this pictures are my ultimate favorite.

BOOKS: DISPLAY

Love this! There's a dead space on our living room that we want to use. The story is in our living room there's a door that connects to our bedroom but we block that entry so we can have more space in our bedroom. Is not visible in our bedroom cause we add a floor to sealing curtain imitation a long headboard but from the living room is more than obvious that is a closed entryway. So after much debating and styling ideas a display book shelve is the more logic solution. We have a ton of coffee table books that we would to be at reach for  us as well as for our family and friends. So this solution looks like a more sensible one...also this and this shelves would be perfect for the door frame.

DECOR: GREY + OJ

This color combo is perfect for the hubby! He likes brights funky neon colors and I like dark (black) colors so this is the perfect compromising. Now that he's been collecting  photography equipment he will need the perfect space to store, file, work and organized his images. We already started with this! So an office redo is a must.
