ART: RENAU

The art of Josep Renau is pure magic! Fill with lost, torment and darkness. I know, I know it could be a little dark for most people but at this period of his career he design classic film noir posters for the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema and Libertad Lamarque was the Queen of Torment. He also did really important and iconic images for different social problems in Spain and Mexico but the one that I most loved are these pieces.

VINTAGE: 40's CARTOONS

Here are some of my favorite cartoons when I was growing up. I know I'm a child from the eighties watching cartoons from the forties but when you live in Mexico back then you only had a few selections. Still after all these years I still loved them and master cartoonist Tex Avery always going to be my No.1

VINTAGE: SHOPPING MUSTS!

Last Friday I did one of my favorite things: Vintage Shopping! I'm always on a mad thrill of the hunt and when it comes to vintage is a fierce competition. I stayed local shopping on Kobey's and the Ocean Beach Antiques District but nothing compares when we shop at the mother of all: Rose Bowl. Here are my must for shopping for vintage and antiques:

VINTAGE: STARLET SCARF

Scarfs-sensation! There's this lovely old lady in my neighborhood that usually wears a head scarf. I always admired how chic and effortless she looks. Something so simple such as a little piece of fabric can elevate an outfit. So glamorous!! Here are the basic steps to tie a head scarf but the starlet o kelly scarf is my ultimate favorite. Love this spread too!

VINTAGE: DEL MAR ANTIQUE SHOW

Over the weekend my mom and I went to the Del Mar Antique Show & Sale. We had an amazing time, truly it didn't disappoint. You could find jewelry, furniture, clothes, bakelite, ceramics and even vintage Vegas slots! My favorite part was that a lot a people dress the part, from rockabilly ladies to steampunk gentlemen. The vendors are knowledgeable about the products they are selling so you better do your research to get a good price. Needles to say we score a beautiful 1940's cocoon jewel tone coat, a 50's velvet hat, a vintage wine opener and a 1930's 8 piece (matryoshka) Russian doll set. Can't wait for the Santa Monica Vintage Expo!

Although all the collections were beautiful I'm more interested in the street style and who better to dress to impress then fashion photographer Jamie Beck (girl crush!). VINTAGE: JUST CHARMING

I started building my own vintage charm bracelet earlier this year. It's hard to see her, but somehow I found a tiny feather-fan dancer! I've been hunting charms that have to do with my burlesque shows, hence the naked lady in the bath, the birdcage, the martini glass.... Dita Von Teese
